Frequently Asked Questions
Who owns Government Island?
Government Island (also known as Government Rock) is owned and stewarded by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. All reservations are approved through a formal application process in partnership with the Tribe.
Can anyone book the island?
Yes, the island is available for reservation by individuals, organizations, and commercial teams. All uses are subject to application approval, and must align with the respectful use of tribal land.
What types of events are allowed?
We accept applications for a wide range of uses, including:
-
Weddings and elopements

All event types are reviewed individually.
How private is the location?
Extremely private. We allow only one booking per day. Once confirmed, you’ll have full exclusive access to the island during your reserved time.
Is there a minimum or maximum number of guests?
There is no strict minimum, but for larger groups (typically 40+), additional review may be required to ensure appropriate logistics, access, and environmental protection.

Are drones, generators, or large equipment allowed?
Yes — with prior approval. Be sure to note any special gear or filming equipment in your application. Some requests may require permits or additional coordination.
Is there electricity, restrooms, or running water on the island?
No. Government Island is a natural, undeveloped site. You are responsible for providing your own power, restroom solutions, and supplies as needed for your event. We can advise on common practices.
How do I get to the island?
Access is typically by private boat or water taxi. Transportation is not provided, but we can recommend local services. Some productions bring their own boats or coordinate shuttles.
Can I reschedule or cancel my reservation?
Cancellations must be requested before your event is confirmed (payment + signed agreement). Once confirmed, your booking is final, though we understand emergencies happen — please contact us as early as possible to discuss options.
What happens if my application is rejected?
If your request doesn’t meet requirements or lacks needed details, we may respond with a “More Details Needed” status. You’ll have time to revise and resubmit. If your application is ultimately declined, no payment is charged.
Can I scout the location before booking?
Yes. We offer limited pre-approval site visits for serious inquiries, especially for commercial shoots and large events. Please contact us directly to request a scouting appointment.
